1. Data Collection & Usage
- Screen Capture: The extension captures a screenshot of your active browser tab only when you explicitly click the "Start Capture" or "Translate" button.
- Temporary Transmission: Screenshots are temporarily transmitted to our servers (manhwa-translator.com) solely for OCR and translation.
- No Permanent Storage: We do not permanently store your screenshots. Original images are discarded immediately after translation.
2. Permissions Explained
The extension requests the following permissions for specific functional reasons:
activeTab— Required to access the current tab's content solely when the user explicitly clicks the extension icon, allowing the extension to initiate the screen capture process for the visible page.scripting— Required to inject a content script that performs automatic scrolling and image stitching. This allows the extension to capture full-page screenshots of long manhwa chapters that extend beyond the visible viewport.storage— Used to temporarily save the captured screenshot data and user preferences (such as target language settings) locally within the browser.unlimitedStorage— Required because high-resolution, full-page screenshots of long manhwa chapters often exceed the standard 5MB local storage limit. This ensures large chapters can be captured and processed without errors.Host permissions— The extension is designed to work on any website where a user might be reading manhwa. Since manhwa sites vary widely and new ones appear frequently, host permissions are needed to inject the capture script on whichever site the user chooses to read from.
3. User Data Protection
- We do not track your browsing history outside of the pages you translate.
- We do not sell any data collected via the extension to third parties.
